The torch has been passed. Ranveer Singh is officially the new Don. While backlash was expected, director Farhan Akhtar is confident that this reboot will silence the critics.
A New Era, A New Don
Ranveer Singh brings a different energy—more chaotic and physically imposing than SRK's suave and cerebral Don. Farhan Akhtar has stated that this reboot will explore the origin and the raw ambition of a young gangster trying to conquer the Asian underworld.
The Style Statement
While SRK's Don was all about slick suits and one-liners, Ranveer's version is rumored to be grittier. Expect flambuoyant fashion but a darker, more violent tone similar to Scarface but with an Indian twist.
The Leading Lady
Kiara Advani has been cast opposite Ranveer. She will likely play a character similar to Roma (played by Priyanka Chopra), a woman seeking revenge who gets entangled in Don's web.
Why the Reboot?
Farhan Akhtar felt he had exhausted the storyline with the current iteration. To make Don relevant for the next generation (Gen Z), a complete overhaul of the aesthetic and pacing was needed.
